The Zero Waste Dolman Sweater Dress is a simple dolman dress with fabulous oversized front pockets. It is perfect made from a sweater knit for layering in cooler months, or made from a light drapey knit for wearing alone in the summer months. 

  • Super easy to sew with step-by-step instructions with pictures.
  • The whole thing is made from a simple rectangle of fabric with no leftovers.
  • Try something new with the clever origami that makes the oversized front pockets.
  • Instructions also included to help you with fit.

Sizes: The pattern starts at a size 2 and goes up to a size 14 (kids sizing).

File types: A4/Letter size PDF (for home printers), A0 size PDF (for printshops), and a projector file too.

Difficulty: Basic Skills

All the patterns in the Zero Waste Collection are cut from a single rectangular piece (or pieces if there is a lining) of fabric with no waste. This leaves you with only usable rectangular remnants the size of which depends the size of the pattern and the width of the original fabric.

We know that this type of pattern cutting is not a 'fix all' for waste in the sewing world, but it is our step in the right direction and we really hope you enjoy the patterns as much as we do.

Fabrics

This pattern is designed for knit fabrics with a soft drapey quality and with 25% stretch in the crosswise direction. These include (but are not limited to) light weight jersey or sweater knit fabrics. Fabrics such as light weight cotton/spandex, bamboo/spandex, double brushed poly, rayon/spandex, etc. Note: This pattern is not suitable for directional fabrics.

Other needs

  • Co-ordinating thread.
  • 6mm (1/4") wide fusible hem tape or knit stay tape.

Fabric amounts

One of the joys of a digital product is that delivery is both instant and free!

When you finish your purchase you will recieve an email with a link to download your PDF Pattern. You can print out your pattern on regular letter or A4 paper and tape it together, or send the file off to the printers to get it printed in A0 format (so you don't have to tape it together).

The pattern comes with beginner friendly written instructions with illustrations for each step.
