*** This pattern is a part of our Zero Waste Collection. Check out the rest of the collection here ***

The Zero Waste Henley Tee is a simple dropped shoulder design with short sleeves and a front button placket in children's sizes 2 to 14. This pattern can be made from a woven fabric or a stable (not too stretchy) knit fabric.

  • Easy to sew with step-by-step instructions with pictures and video.
  • The whole thing is made from a simple rectangle of fabric with no leftovers.
  • Instructions also included to help you with fit.

Sizes: The pattern starts at a size 2 and goes up to a size 14 (kids sizing).

File types: A4/Letter size PDF (for home printers), A0 size PDF (for printshops), and a projector file too.

Difficulty: Mid Level Skills

All the patterns in the Zero Waste Collection are cut from a single rectangular piece (or pieces if there is a lining) of fabric with no waste. This leaves you with only usable rectangular remnants the size of which depends the size of the pattern and the width of the original fabric.

We know that this type of pattern cutting is not a 'fix all' for waste in the sewing world, but it is our step in the right direction and we really hope you enjoy the patterns as much as we do.

This is a multi-sized pattern in children's sizes 2 - 14.  A link to the size charts including all measurements is included just below the product title above.

Fabrics

This pattern is designed for light to medium weight woven fabrics. These include (but are not limited to): Quilting weight cotton, poly cottons or linen. The pattern can also be sewn from 2 way knit fabrics with 25% or less stretch in the crosswise direction. These include (but are not limited to): Light to medium weight jersey fabrics, the likes of which might be suitable for a t-shirt. Note: This pattern is not suitable for directional fabric.

Other needs

  • Co-ordinating thread
  • A length of 2.5cm (1") wide single fold bias tape (see table below for length required)
  • 3 buttons - 1cm (3/8") or less in diameter (these can be substituted snaps if preferred)
  • A small amount of lightweight fusible interfacing (optional for use on the placket with knit fabrics)
